Do Any New Fall Comedies Not Suck? (Oh, Hi, Will Arnett, Christina Applegate and Whitney Cummings!)

Stars of new series sound off on why you might love them

When I tweeted a few nights back that I could sum up most of the new fall comedies with one word—"NO"—many of you asked about two prospects: NBC's Up All Night and Whitney.

Up All Night, starring Will Arnett and Christina Applegate as "late in life" parents, and Whitney, based on the stand-up of comedienne extraordinaire Whitney Cummings, are certainly two of the higher-profile shows premiering next month, and I just sat down with all three stars to get a better sense of whether you TV fans should watch.

So...Should you give them a shot?

And how.

Up All Night, from Saturday Night Live writer Emily Spivey, is anything but your run-of-the-mill, cutesy family sitcom, thanks to dark, edgy and self-deprecating humor that can appeal even to those who don't have kids. And you who love Whitney Cummings' stand-up will probably dig her show...once you wrap your noggin' around the format, that is. Whitney 's traditional live-audience, multi-camera setup is a bit jarring and unexpected for such a non-traditional girl, but she did a good job of defending it, and explaining how they plan to ease the transition from single-cam shows in the video.

Check out the video above and below of my sitdowns with Will, Christina and Whitney to see why you might end up falling in love with these new shows.

Any other new fall comedies you're interested in hearing about? Sound off below, as I'm talking to all the casts this week. (P.S. Get ready for an obessive love letter to Zooey Deschanel's new Fox comedy New Girl a little later on. Consider yourself warned.)
