ABC/CRAIG SJODINSome big doings in Miley Cyrusland: The tween queen's fansite is making nice with fans who felt cheated out of concert tickets, and Hannah Montana's alter ego just scored her biggest single yet on the charts.
First, Miley fans are finally getting some mileage out of their fan club membership.
Pennsylvania's attorney general, Tom Corbett, has announced the settlement of a class-action lawsuit against the Nashville company that operates Cyrus' Mileyworld.com over allegations of deceptive advertising for promising, but failing to deliver, tickets to the teen sensation's Best of Both Worlds tour last year.
In a statement, the attorney general says website members will have their memberships extended by four extra months after Mileyworld.com did not honor a commitment to give them early access to purchase tickets to a sold-out 2008 concert in Pittsburgh.
Per the agreement, filed Tuesday in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, Interactive Media Marketing must post a notice on its site stating, "Purchase of a MileyWorld fan club membership does not guarantee access to tickets." The company will also fork over $20,000 in penalties.
As to whether the fans will remain loyal, so far, so good.
Her new single, "The Climb," debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's Hot 100 today. That's a career high for the Disney star, having previously peaked at No. 9 with last summer's "7 Things."
"The Climb" is a country crossover single from the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack, due out March 24. The soundtrack primarily consists of Cyrus and Hannah Montana songs, including a duet with daddy Billy Ray. Her new BFF Taylor Swift, who makes a cameo in the film, also appears on the soundtrack with "Crazier."
Last week "The Climb" and Billy Ray's "Back to Tennessee" both debuted on the Hot Country Songs chart, marking the first time a father and daughter have accomplished that feat since Johnny and Rosanne Cash in 1990.
Hannah Montana: The Movie opens in theaters April 10.
No word whether Mileyworld will be offering advanced tickets.
